My Wokingham community event was a huge success in marketing

My Wokingham launched its first event of its kind in Wokingham on Saturday 29th July 2023. The Talent show was promoted online, via My Wokingham’s website all its social media channels and in the My Wokingham newspaper. This powerful combination resulted in over 1000 people attending the show and helping raise over £3000 for local charity Wokingham in Need. The event attracted coverage on ITV News, BBC Radio Berkshire, Bracknell News and Wokingham Times. It’s an event firmly in the calendar for Wokingham Berkshire and one that My Wokingham is proud to have created.

A charity dedicated to helping the homeless and vulnerable people in Wokingham

Wokingham in Need is dedicated to supporting the homeless and the most vulnerable in our communityWokingham in Need works tirelessly to support the local community and make Wokingham a great place to live for all its residents, our major aim is to support those who are homeless and vulnerable. Over the years, Wokingham in Need has launched a number of incentives and projects that have helped significantly increase the standard of living for the homeless and vulnerable in Wokingham

 

Meet Your Hosts

Paul Metcalfe

Paul is a TV presenter that has been involved with some hugely popular projects, such as hosting on the world’s biggest shopping channel QVC, and television spin-offs including Family Fortunes.Paul’s presenting saw him firmly embedded in the London scene, living and working in the capital, but the pandemic changed all that. “I used to visit my best friend in Wokingham regularly as a way to escape the hustle and bustle of the London bubble, and instantly fell in love with the town,” Paul will be the host for the Talent Show.

Phil Gee Biz

Phil is a DJ at Radio B, and has years of experience in media, as a presenter, quizmaster, compere and much more. Phil brings his own unique style to the show and will be helping get the audience in the mood for the main event. Afterwards, Phill will be entertaining the audience with music and his version of Play Your Cards right. Phil is well know in the borough of Wokingham in the enternainment industry 

Meet The Judges

Andrew Murray, a finalist in the 2017 season of the popular television show “Britain’s Got Talent.” Murray’s mind-reading act, known as DNA, left audiences astounded, and his discerning eye will undoubtedly contribute to uncovering Wokingham’s hidden talents.

Shelley Otway, who trained in Musical Theatre at The Guildford School of Acting on a full singing scholarship. Otway’s position as the Principal/Artistic Director at Steppin Out Stars Of Tomorrow, a renowned children’s dance school, further highlights her credentials.

Sangeeta Bhabra

Sangeeta Bhabra, a renowned presenter for ITV Meridian with an impressive 15-year career. Sangeeta has also presented special programs for ITV Yorkshire, including coverage of the IFA awards in Leeds in 2007. Her exceptional journalistic skills and dedication to her craft were recognized in 2015 when she received the regional journalist of the year award at the Asian Media Awards (AMA).

Cathy Valentine

Cathy Valentine, the creative force behind Circus Scene, completes the line-up of judges. Known for providing captivating entertainment through Circus Skills Workshops, Fetes and Fun Days, Children’s Parties, and Special Events in Schools, Valentine’s unique perspective and vast experience will undoubtedly enhance the judging process.
